Loyola Academy's Billy Anton shot a 77 and Phillip Dugan had a 78 at the 3A Glenbrook North golf regional Tuesday at the Sportsman's Country Club in Northbrook. They will represent the Ramblers Monday at the Glenbrook South Sectional at the Glenview Park Golf Club. Loyola placed fourth at the Chicago Catholic League Meet with a 313 Oct. 2 at Cog Hill. The low golfer for the Ramblers was Anton with a 77 for 18 holes. He was followed by Sean Foley (78), Dugan (78) and Chuck Haskins (80). On Saturday at the Trevian Invitational, the Ramblers took another fourth place with a team score of 318. New Trier won its own tourney with a 296 at the Winnetka Golf Course. Casey Kenny shot a 77, while Haskin had a 79. Loyola is at the Exmoor Country Club Invitational on Saturday.
Boys cross country
Loyola junior Nico Composto won the 38th annual Patrick Savage Invitational at Niles West Saturday, running the three-mile course in 15.01. The Ramblers put three runners in the top five to take first place with 49 points. Fellow juniors Mark Donohue and Jack Seeberg finished third and fourth, respectively. Also mentioned was Kevin Kapolnek and Patrick Smith.
Girls cross country
Loyola (73 points) finished runner-up behind Maine South (52), at the Niles West Patrick Savage Invitational. The Ramblers had three runners finish in the top 15, including Colleen Fitzgerald, Siobhan Cooney and Anne Marie McGuire. Both Rambler teams will run at the Sterling Invitational Saturday at 9 a.m.
Girls swimming
While Loyola didn't win any events at Saturday's Evanston Invitational, the Ramblers did well enough in several swims to earn second place with 4,752 points. Loyola's top swimmer, sophomore Madelein Klichowski, took second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 200 intermediate medley. Also mentioned were Michelle Garland and Emily Levison, Ellie Ansani, Monica Finn, Lindy Navarre, Mallory Remick and Cally Stauder - Date of Publication
