- The New Trier rowing team captured the overall points trophy at the 23rd annual International "Frogtown Races" Regatta held on the Maumee River near Toledo, Ohio, Saturday.
The New Trier girls varsity eight plus team consisted of Sarah Specht, Melanie Eckert, Hilary Going, Katie Wilcox, Lauren Lashmet, Molly Messersmith, Hannah Wilson, Kelly Nolan and Molly Selig. New Trier crews will compete next on Oct. 12 at the Head of the Rock Regatta in Rockford. The varsity boys and girls eight-plus teams will also be entered in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Oct. 19.
Boys cross country
Noah Graboys led the Trevian runners to a double dual win over Waukegan and Glenbrook South in CSL South Division action last week. Second place finisher was Peter Foradas. Completing a sweep of the top five places were New Trier's Tom King (16:26), Eric Zuckerman (16:28) and Matt McCambridge (16:31).
Girls cross country
Led by Sarah Mitrano's 19th place individual finish, New Trier's girls secured their best place yet at the annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago. Also mentioned for New Trier were Holly Roberts, Maggie Nash, Lauren Riley and Tess Clabby. New Trier captured the freshman team title behind individual winner Megan Deady. In CSL South Division action, coach John Burnside's squad scored a double dual victory over both Glenbrook South and Waukegan.
Sailing
Stephanie Hudson and Drew Shea of New Trier finished second and third, respectively, in the Radial division at the Midwest qualifier sailing event for the ISSA National Singlehanded Championships held last weekend at Pewaukee Lake near Milwaukee. New Trier alum Maggie Shea, meanwhile, qualified to compete in the upcoming ICSA Women's National Singlehanded Championships by placing third in her regional event. Shea is a sophomore at Connecticut College. - Date of Publication
