- Balatka Musical College, founded in 1879 by Hans Balatka and his son, Dr. Christian F. Balatka, formerly known as the Balatka Academy of Musical Art, is now located at 338 South Wabash Avenue. Hans Balatka introduced Mme. Jennie Lind, Parepa Rosa, Lena Hastreicher. He has arranged music for the following musicians, Emil Liebling, Peter Lutkin, Reginald De Koven, Clarence Eddy, William Lewis Sr., Dr. Florence Ziegfield, Adolph Koelling, John Hadstaedt, Wimmiam Soeboeck, Silas Pratt.
