- Notes
- A proposal to save New Trier's Safe Rides program was passed by the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives, and now awaits the review of Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Safe Rides is a teen-operated (but adult-supervised) peer dispatch service offering New Trier Township teenagers a ride home if they are impaired, in danger, or uncomfortable on a weekend night. The program was eliminated after a January 2008 new Graduated Driver's License law prohibiting drivers under 18 to be on the road after 11 p.m. after Fridays and Saturdays.
