Ernest White, 78, of 410 Park avenue, passed away Friday, March 24. He was superintendent of streets for 32 years, until his retirement in 1935. Mr. White had been a resident of Wilmette since 1882. He was born in Germany November 5, 1860, and was brought to this country by his parents when 7 years of age, the family settling near Algonquin, Ill. He was married to Louise Muenzel in 1882, and shortly after brought his bride to Wilmette. A son and three daughters were born to this union of whom Mrs. Sarah Neumann of West Chicago and Mrs. Ella Flinn of San Francisco survive. Mrs. White passed away in 1897. In 1898 Mr. White married Mrs. Sophie Hacker, of whose children Fred Hacker and Mrs. Minnie Kossow of Wilmette survive. Mrs. Sophie Hacker White died in 1925. His departure is mourned also by seven grandchildren, among whom is Mrs. Louise Schopen with whom he made his home since 1925, and four great-grandchildren.
