Edward Zipf Dies; Wilmette Ex-President

Notes: Edward Zipf died at the Evanston hospital on Monday of this week.
Mr. Zipf, who was 76 years old, was stricken with a heart attack Thursday of last week at the golf course of the Westmoreland Country Club.
He was a native of Kankakee. He served as president of the Wilmette board of education from 1912 to 1917.
Elected president of the village in 1917, Mr. Zipf served four terms, retiring in 1925.

It was during his administration, in 1924, that the village of Gross Point was annexed to Wilmette, extending the village limits as far west as Illinois road.
Mr. Zipf, who founded Zipf Brothers Coal company in 1904, was president of the concern at the time of his death. His widow, Alice, and a daughter, Frances (Mrs. Frank Lambert) of Evanston, survive.
