St. Francis Xavier School and parish thanked Joan Compernolle and Kim Langill last week for organizing the April 12 spring rummage sale.

• School officials thanked Betty Ann Manganaro, Suzy McNamara and Sheli Sullivan last week for preparation and production of "Bye Bye Birdie," this year's eighth-grade musical and play held April 24 and 25 at the school. They also thanked the play's director, Ellie Heyman of Northlight Theatre.

• Moms and tots will gather from 9:45-11:45 a.m. Friday at Maple Park for playtime and refreshments.

• The track program, now in its 13th season, is open to all boys and girls at the school who are in the fourth through eighth grades. Coached by school parent Paul Tyska

• First Holy Communion for 2008 is scheduled for Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 524 Ninth St., Wilmette.

• St. Francis Xavier's children's choir end-of-the-year concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, 524 Ninth St., Wilmette. Beverly Baar directs the choir.

• May 8 is the school's annual May crowning Mass and mother's tribute program. Mrs. McGivern's and Mrs. McDonough's eighth-grade classes are to plan the liturgy for the Mass

• The HSO will sponsor its annual bike safety day May 14.

• The annual art show and band concert is scheduled for the evening of May 20 in the school's Xavier Room.

• Students who have birthdays during May, June and July may take part in birthday dress-down day May 21.

• SummerFest 2008, a community wide event, is scheduled for June 7 following the 5 p.m. Mass. Event co-chairs are Beth Hadley, Sharon Komlofske, Melissa Schaupp, Angie Waltman
