- All Township residents are invited to attend Open Community Meetingson March 19, April 22, May 20 and June 11 to stay updated about the process. New Trier's facility planning process began last year and will continue through June, when the Workshop Committee will make its final recommendations.
The 14th annual Senior Class Winter Carnival was held Friday night, Feb. 29, raising over $27,000 in ticket sales alone. The proceeds will be used to finance a Habitat for Humanity house for a local family.
Some 150 New Trier seniors have met the requirements to participate in Senior Project, an off-campus internship-like work experience of their own choosing at the end of their high school careers. Senior Project will be held from April 14 through May 16. The Senior Project Exhibition -- when seniors return to campus to showcase their projects -- will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 15, and from 8:15 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Friday, May 16 (
"Risky Business: You, Your Child, and the Law" will be presented by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas R. Mulroy at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, in the Cornog Auditorium at the Northfield campus, 7 Happ Road.
New Trier's Spring Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Cornog Auditorium on the Northfield campus. The performance features the Freshman Boys' and Girls' Choruses, Men's Chorus, Musettes, and Concert Choir.
The public is invited to attend a presentation on "Autism, ADHD, Asthma, Allergies: The New Childhood Epidemics?" from 12:45 until 2:30 p.m., Wednesday. Sponsored by the Family Awareness Network of New Trier Township (FAN), the presentation will feature pediatricians Dr. Barbara Trommer and Dr. John Kim.
"The Burial at Thebes," a version of Sophocles' "Antigone," by Seaumus Heaney, opened last night. Cast members are: Mojdeh Bowers (Antigone), Tony Bono (Hameon), Stuart Conlon (chorus), Will Cotter (guard), Amelia Glogowski (Tiresias), Erin McDonough (messenger), Sophie Durbin (chorus), Luke Lech (guard), Brenna Markle (Ismene), Doug Pemberton (Creon), Alex Philoon (chorus), Eliana Sagarin (guide), Alex Rust (Euryidce), Rachel Slotky (messenger), Parker Tarun (advisor to Creon), Ashley Urisman (chorus), Anna Weinstein (chorus), Kegan Witzki (advisor to Creon), and Michael Zarowny (Chorus). Assistant Directors are Rachel Huvard and Joey Heyworth. Production assistants are Emily Hinkler, Elizabeth Hinkler and Catherine Tyson. Director is Anne James-Noonan, New Trier performing arts coordinator; and designer/technical director is Matt Dudley, New Trier technical designer.
The deadline to donate prom attire and musical instruments for the students in New Orleans is Tuesday.
English teacher Jay Rosenberg has been named "most influential teacher" by former student Anne Schiff, who currently is a senior at Stanford University. Last year, English teacher Cathy D'Agostino was honored with the same "most influential teacher" distinction in Stanford's program.
Mary Beth Barrett, science teacher; Marty Laffey, mathematics teacher; and Kay Pothast, kinetic Wellness teacher participated in The Polar Plunge to benefit the Illinois Special Olympics. They raised $15,610 to help fund future Special Olympics events.
