Loyola Academy will host Dr. Mel Levine, cofounder of All Kinds of Minds, a nonprofit institute for the study of learning differences, at 7 p.m. March 11. For reservations and information, contact Joan Schniedwind Levine is a professor of pediatrics at North Caroline Medical School and author of "A Mind at a Time" and "The Myth of Laziness," among other books.

The school's visual arts students participated in two local contests. Anne Raccuglia '08 of Northfield won first place and an honorable mention in the Wilmette Arts Guild Student Art Show, which is on exhibit through today (Feb. 28), and second place in the Glenview Art League Student Show. Shannon Joyce '08 of Northbrook won second place in the Wilmette contest. Honorable mentions went to Emily Dempsey '08 of Winnetka, Jennifer Gutbrod '08 of Northbrook, Thomas Hinkamp '08 of Winnetka, Taya Lyskanycz '08 of Chicago (60646), Nora McCarthy '09 of Chicago (60626) and Gretchen Selzer '09 of Glenview.

Latin team member Chris Ell '08 of Arlington Heights received the regional MVP award for the Upper level in Certamen.
