- The Wilmette Historical Museum will host a presentation on the 1915 Eastland Disaster and its local connections Tuesday at the museum. Storyteller Megan Wells will talk about the events surrounding the loss of 844 lives when the cruise ship capsized in the Chicago River. It was later refurbished as a naval training vessel named the U.S.S. Wilmette.
