- Delegates to the national convention later this year play a pivotal role in deciding which candidate wins each party's nomination. In the 10th Congressional District, five Democratic delegates and one alternate chosen in Tuesday's election will serve among the 185 delegates and 26 alternates at the Democratic Convention Aug. 25-28 in Denver. On the Republican side, three delegates and three alternates will be elected from the 10th district to join 70 Illinois delegates and 67 alternates at he GOP convention Sept. 1-4 in Minneapolis. Three of those seeking to bedome delegates from the district are from Wilmette and Kenilworth. All three are Republicans: Roger A. Keats, T. Tolbert Chisum and Rich Williamson of Kenilworth
