- The annual Big Book Drive sponsored by the Wilmette Rotary Noon Club proved a great success. About 10,000 children's books were donated by all the Wilmette public and parochial elementary schools, as well as the Wilmette Public Library, The Lake Bluff Public Library and St. Athanasius Elementary School in Evanston. The books were sent to certain schools in Chicago.
