- Melvin A. Lane, 72, of Evanston died June 26 at Evanston Hospital. He was born in Glencoe. He is survived by his wife, Frances, a son, James Herbon of Evanston and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Holder of California and Ruth Hodel of Evanston, and a brother, Turner of Mississippi.
