- The Men's Club of Wilmette is an association of between three hundred and four hundred residents of Wilmette incorporated for the purpose of promoting social intercourse between its members and the general improvement and welfare of the community. The club was organized in 1906 in response to a wish for an organization where men of the village irrespective of race, creed or social status could meet in an atmosphere of good fellowship
The Officers are P. J. Cunneen, A. L. Rice, H. W. Miller and P. M. Birgham.
The group holds an annual banquet in addition to other meetings with lectures and talks on topics of immediate interest. Speakers of national reputation such as Opie Read, W. D. Nesbit, S. E. Kiser and others have been present. This year's banquet was presided over by Douglas Malloch as toastmaster and Capt. Henry J. Reilly, special correspondent of the Chicago Tribune, spoke on issues of national preparedness. The Honorable Victor P. Arnold, Judge Cook County Circuit Court, spoke on the Parole Question. Matters of creed, sect, politics or other divisive issues are not discussed by the Men's Club of Wilmette.
Past presidents are Messrs. M. B. Skinner, W. O. Belt, George F. Butler, C. C. Carnahan, H. K. Snider, J. F. Stone, A. E. Southworth, C. H. Jackson and J. W. Illiff.
