- Men excempt from regular service can still perform service at thome. The Eleventh Regiment of the National Guard, the only such regiment in Cook County, offers the opportunity to render service locally. The local company "K" drills Tuesday [unclear] each week. Each company of the Eleventh is equipped with uniforms, haversack, rifle, belt, bayonet, shelterhalve [unclear] blanket, poncho, overcoat and complete mess outfit. Winter uniforms will be issued shortly.
