- Fire destroyed a barn at the home of Samuel Schwall, 804 Ridge avenue, early Tuesday morning. A ford truck, the property of Henry Schwall, was also destroyed. The estimated damage to was $1,000.
Ensign John Goldback, Lake and Ridge avenues, is spending a ten day furlough with relatives here.
Peter J. Oerter of Brown street, is expected home from Massachusetts training camp this week.
Word has been received that John Roemer and George Steffens, both of Gross Point, are recuperating in a hospital in France. The men were gassed and remained in a base hospital for 5 weks before being transferred to the Convalescent hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Borre of Ridge avenue, are both confined suffering with Spanish Influenza
Mrs. Martin Hartnet and Miss Julia Schwall are ill with the Spanish Influenza.
A horse owned by the Borre Grocery company was injured in a collision last Saturday evening. The animal was hit by a Ford truck driven by Edward Keil, driver for the Klinge and White grocery. Clarence Schwall was driving the wagon.
An article in the November 28 issue of the Lake Shore News entitled "Draft takes few North Shore Men" stated that 47 Gross Point men had been called in the draft. The article applies only to men who were taken in the draft and not to voluntary enlistments of which there were many in the village.
Friends of Mrs. Peter Roemer, Jr., gave a surprise birthday party for her last Friday
Mr. and Mrs. William Pedinger of Ridge avenue announce the birth of a son on Saturday, November 30.
