- The Lake Bluff Orphanage was prevented by an outbreak of influenza from allowing the children to attend celebrations in private homes on Christmas Day. Director Roy Kirtland arranged for a New Year's Day party instead and asked the people who had prepared gifts to send them up to the children. The Kiwanis Club also plans to participate in the party by playing Santa Claus, preparing a dinner and entertainment.
