- Danny Pritz fell short of matching his brother's, Bryan, accomplishments in the New Trier state championship of 2000. New Trier bowed to Neuqua Valley 5-1 here Saturday night in the season finale. Still, his season was a sucess for someone who was a pinch-hitter/ designated hitter for most of his junior season. Sports biography of Pritz.
Two New Trier players--third baseman Chris Lashmet and pitcher Trey Frahler--were named to the 31-player all-state squad selected by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association this spring.
New Trier head coach Mike Napoleon got to coach his son, Dillon, in the state championship game, and older son, Dusty,a first-baseman/catcher at the University of Iowa, was selected in the 19th round of the major league baseball draft by the Oakland Athletics.
New Trier won over Buffalo Grove Friday in the quarterfinals.
New Trier will have to rebuild almost every position next spring with the graduation of many seniors. Dillon Napoleon and Will Neal are the only two underclassmen considered returning starters, but outfielder Stephen Spellman and Tommy Harvey also played last season. Among the pitchers J. B.
