- John L. McGowan, of Wilmette, died May 28 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. He was 88.
Mr. McGowan was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Chicago to Thomas McGowan and Ellen (nee Sullivan).
Survivors include one son, Mark L. (Nancy) of Wilmette; two grandchildren, Elizabeth S. and J. Matthew McGowan; one sister, Donna McGowan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Audrey (nee Dodson); two siblings, Martin V. McGowan and Sr. Thomas Ellen McGowan, O.P.; and a brother-in-law, Francis Ellis (Dorothy) Dodson.
