Plan Infant Welfare Station on the Shore

At a meeting last week under the auspices of the Woman's Committee of the COuncil of National Defense, plans for a Infant Welfare station for this neighborhood were discussed, and plans were submitted for starting one in September.
Miss Fulmer, supervisor of the Cook County Bureau of Social Services, was the chief speaker of the occasion. She outlined the plan of work, found successful in her home district--a central board from each district to be benefited--the station to be open at least once a week with a trained nurse in attandance, and a physician, possibly hard to secure in these times.
Miss Fulmer's assistant, Mrs. Mabel Roy, was also at the meeting. She has worked much in New Trier, Northfield, Wheeling, Barrington and other townships and she reported that New Trier needs an Infant Welfare station most of all; and as soon as possible. Miss Fulmer offered Mrs. Roy's servicies for the first three months.

Station at Gross Point
It was decided to establish the station at Gross POint, if convenient rooms could be found. IT may not be generally known that Gross POint is our oldest north shore community. The Indian Trail of one hundred years ago developed into the Green Bay road along the Ridge of today.
The Gross Point "light" is a very old land mark on the shore. Into this oldest community is to come the most modern development of social science--an Infant Welfare station. It will be available to mothers from Wilmette, East and West Kenilworth, Central street, Glenview, Winnetka and Glencoe.
It is to be under the auspices of the Child and HOme department of the Wilmette Woman's Club. Mrs. Hope Thompson has accepted the chairmanship, assisted by Mrs. Durgin, Chairman of the Child and Home department, and Mrs. Arms, chairman of Infant Welfare for Wilmette.

Financial Burden Small
The co-operation of the entire district is necessary. The financial burden will be small--practically nothing at first; and the benefit to the community will be great. It is an interesting fact that in Gross Point where a low average of health among the children was found, the weighing and measuring cards show three perfect babies, children of the granddaughter of Peter Borre, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of this oldest community.
