- Miss Mary Mack, 707 Central avenue, entertained 25 little friends at a sleigh ride and supper: Ruth Shellman, Margaret Osgood, Marcia Bruch, Ethel Hecht, Betty [Elizabeth] Rye, Joan Pardee, Virginia Belt, Mary Worthington, Marion Reese, Jane Greiner, Winogene Springer, Henrietta Bird, Elizabeth Kerr, Florence Scribner, Florence Branson, Eloise Smith, Bella Smith, Mary Hunt, Kate Purdy, Gertrude Brown, Mary Crumb, Beth Hostetter, Ethel Sturgeon, Betty Harwood, Dorothy Campbell, Reba Gage and Winifred Bilsland
Masquerade party given by Mr. and Mrs. Wendelin P. Seng, 401 Lake avenue.
Dance Club of married couples held New Year's Eve dancing party at the Wilmette Woman's Club. The fund raising event collected $27.50 for the Red Cross.
Women's Catholic Club of Wilmette held meting December 28 in the Wilmette Woman's Club. Mrs. Louis Crush was appointed recording secretary following resignation of Miss Mary E. Sieber and Mrs. James F. Byrnes was appointed corresponding secretary. Program directed by Mrs. Charles A. Barton, Jr. Monsignor Francis C. Kelley spoke on "The Passing of the Volunteer." Miss Starry Carrol of Chicago sang. Mr. Ferdinand J. Brahm, accompanied by Miss Louise Mueller, played the violin. President is Mrs. Joseph Verhalen. Hostesses were Mrs. Louis Crush and Mrs. C. R. Norman.
Miss Margaret Couffer entertained friends at luncheon on Saturday at her home, 903 Lake avenue, in honor of Miss Clara Gage of Hartford, Connecticut, who is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Kibby, 835 Lake avenue, and Miss Virginia Kendall who is moving.
Mr. and Mrs. James Kendall and daughter, Miss Virginia Kendall of 802 Elmwood avenue will move January 19th to Los Angeles, Calif. Miss Jane Kendall will finish her college year at Northwestern.
Mr. George S. Guertin, 338 Greenleaf avenue, is entertaining his sisters, the Misses Nora and Grace Guertin and his brother-in-law Mr. T. D. Casey of Dickinson, N.D.
Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Borre of Gross Point announce the engagement of their daughter, Helen, to Joseph Schneider, also of Gross Point. The wedding will take place on January 8 at St. Joseph's Church.
Meeting of Wilmette Culture Club postponed until next week, and will be held in home of Mrs. Louis T. Starkel, 925 Oakwood avenue.
Fortnightly Bridge Club will meet Tuesday at home of Mrs. H. J. Richter, 1211 Hill street.
Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Stevenson, 522 Central avenue, have returned from a trip to Florida.
Several parties given for Miss Virginia Kendall included a slumber party New Year's Eve at home of Miss Dorothy Yunkers, 911 Sheridan road; a dinner party New Year's night at the home of Miss Sara Huguernin, 506 Lake avenue; a dance party by Miss Phoebe Hoffman this Saturday at he home 1231 Greenwood avenue. Guests at these various affairs include: Misses Margaret Couffer, Dorothy and Helen Dennet, Ethel Flentye and Elizabeth Cutler.
Mrs. Henry J. Burt, 1027 Elmwood avenue, returned from visit in Washington, D. C., where Mr. Burt is working for the government.
Miss Esther Cohen, 1231 Forest avenue, will return to the University of Wisconsin next Monday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cohen.
Mrs. Arthur Allen will be hostess for Tuesday Luncheon and Bridge Club at her home 1029 Thirteenth street.
Mrs. J. S. Schaefer, 1706 Forest avenue, is at the home of her parents in Evanston recovering from surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Simonds and son, Collison, 824 Ashland avenue, are moving to Miami, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Greiner and daughter, Miss Jane Greiner, 631 Lake avenue, spent Christmas with Mrs. Jacob Bauer, 115 Bellevue place, Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. George Bird entertained friends at their home 510 Washington avenue on New Year's eve.
Mrs. H. E. Ingersoll, mother of Mrs. A. T. Pyfer , 524 Fifteenth street, leaves tonight for an extended visit to Daytona, Fla.
Mrs. Burton Thoms, 500 Lake avenue, spent Christmas with Mr. Thoms at the Presbyterian hospital.
Cromwell Bowen, 809 Elmwood avenue, is employed through vacation at Carlinville, Ill., as a draftsman on coal mine plans for the Standard Oil Company.
Miss Virginia Olwin entertained friends at bridge this afternoon at her home on Lake avenue in honor of Miss Virginia Kendall and Miss Clara Gage.
Mr. Prentiss Couffer entertained six comrades at a birthday dinner last Friday at his home, 903 Lake avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Jackson Casse who have closed their home on Forest avenue for the winter entertained friends for dinner Friday evening at their home on Pearsons street, Chicago.
Partnership between Colonel's Lady, Judge O'Grady and Uncle Sam perfected this week.
Woman's Auxiliary of the Patriotic Food Show formed under auspices of the State Council of Defense. Chairmen and their cooks will be joint hostesses: Mrs. Frederick D. Countiss, Mrs. John B. Drake, Mrs. John J. Mitchell, Mrs. J. C. Hutchins, Mrs. Louise Stumer, Mrs. R. T. Crane, Jr., Mrs. H. W. Farnum, Mrs. Augustus C. Magnus, Mrs. H. H. McInerney, Mrs. Edward F. Swift, Mrs. H M. Sherriff, Mrs. H. W. Farnum, Miss Isabella Hoyt and Miss Betty Hoyt, Mrs Henry Faurot, Miss Gertrude Pence, Mrs. Albert H. Loeh and Mrs. I. A. Abt.
