Henry George Herbon
Company 1, 18th Infantry, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Force
Killed in action on June 9, 1918 in the Montdidier-Noyon Defensive, near the town of Villers-Tournelle. He is thought to be buried at Bone-Valiers.
Survived at the time of his death by:
Parents, Herman and Hannah Bogda Herbon, 1427 Central Av., Wilmette
Born October 2, 1890 in Wilmette. Attended grammar school in Wilmette. He was a chauffer at the time he entered service in June 1917. Afflilated with St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilmette, where both his father and a member of this mother's family were among the 12 charter members in 1903.
Was sent to Camp Grant, Illinois, and later transferred to Camp Merritt, N.J. and then to France with the American Expeditionary Forces.
