Begin Saturday with house to house canvass for members of Improvement Association; Weekly band concerts; Will revamp Wilmette Village Band; Start move to clean up vacant property Wilmette's newest civic organization, The Wilmette Improvement Association, is wasting no time with formalities, but has proceded with remarkable celerity upon the "business at hand," namely, of enlisting the cooperation of every resident in maintaining the physical appearance of the village as befits a model suburban community.
To begin with, the Board of Directors has launched a membership drive, the actual canvass of the homes to start Saturday, June 11, when block captains will visit every householder, explain the purposes and merits of the association, and solicit membership.

Obtain Charter
The Board of Driectors at a meeting Monday evening in the home of Earl E. Orner, 823 Park avenue, heard a report from President Paul Hoffman which, among other things, bore information that a charter had been received from Illinois Secretary of State Louis I. Emmerson.
Improvement of vacant properties by eradication of weeds and removal of refuse and debris was decided upon at the directors' meeting Monday. It is planned to have all weeds, particularly Canada Thistles, cut away in every vacant lot in the village. In the event owners of property fail to cut the weeds the association promises to take the matter in hand and--send the bill to the property owner, it is said.
Through the instrumentality of the Improvement association, also, Wilmette is soon to enjoy weekly band concerts. Plans are under way, it is stated, to have Saturday evening band concerts in Vattman [sic] [Vattmann] Park, Lake and Park avenues, by the revamped Wilmette Village Band, much in evidence in the days of the late war. The improvement association has undertaken to reorganize the band and to make every provision essential to its continues success.
In line with the express purposes of its organization the Improvement association is planning to protest the proposed removal of an old building in Evanston to a location in the vicinity of Wilmette avenue and 17th street.
