- Lt. Alfred Beecher Abeles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred T. Abeles, 726 Ninth street, Wilmette, wrote a letter to his parents dated September 20. The soldier mentioned receiving a letter from John Boyle who had heard about Abeles marriage in May to the former Shirley Elling of 610 Fourth street, Wilmette. Boyle had found a report of the wedding in a copy of the Wilmette Life of June 15 in the seat of a mined truck in France.
