- Jane Ashcraft Alexander died July 29 at Normandy House in Evanston. She was 80. Mrs. Alexander was born in Chicago. She lived for the past 51 years in Wilmette, where she was a member of the Trinity Church of the North Shore. She served on the Wilmette Board of Education, was a member of the original Wilmette Historical Commission in 1948, and was president of the Wilmette Community Concert Association. She was a trustee of Rockford College and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Skokie Valley Chapter. She is survived by her husband, William H.; two daughters, Willa Jane Angier and Susan Yoder Edwin; four sons, William, David, Peter and James; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were private.
