- Evelyn Ruth Smith Custer of Wilmette died Sept. 22 at Evanston Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph P.; her daughter, Terri Lynne of Honolulu; and sons James W. of Atlanta, Ga., and Charles A. of Wilmette; grandchildren David and Jennifer Custer of Atlanta; and her brother, William H. Smith of Waukegan. She was preceded in death by her parents in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Smith.
