- Dr. Robert Byrnes Jans, formerly of Glencoe, died February 19, 2000 in North Chicago Veterans' Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Sylvia (neé Chenal) Jans; four daughters, Maura C., Megan C., Colette Biehl and Cecilia Feicht; five sons, Kevin C., Dennis P., Vincent M., Brian J., and D. Stephen; nine grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Mary Anita Paul of Brookfield, Wisconsin, John Jans of Northbrook, Rita Kent of Skokie, Therese Leschock of East Lansing, Mich., Patricia Doll of Dubuque, Iowa, Rosemary Sheahan of Lake Forest, Joann Lewis of Brookfield, Wisconsin, and Carol Dierbeck of Raleigh, N.C. Preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Frank, and a brother, Peter.
