- Katherine Louise Cretcher died July 28 at the Swedish Retirement Association in Evanston. She was 87. Miss Cretcher wasn born in Degraf, Ohio, and was a longtime resident of Wilmette. She earned a teaching degree from the National College of Education and a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. She was an exchange teacher in the American School in Tokyo during the 1930s and taught at Hubbard Woods School until 1960. She was a teacher at North Shore Country Day School from 1960 to 1965. She is survived by a sister, Frances C. Fairfield of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a nephew, William Cretcher, and several grandnieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
