A memorial service for John T. Ryerson of Wilmette will be held at 11 a.m. May 28 at First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. Mr. Ryerson died May 9 at Rush North Shore Medical Center, Skokie. He was 77. Born in Park Ridge, Mr. Ryerson lived in Wilmette almost all of his life. He graduated from Wilmette Public Schools and from New Trier High School, and attended Northwestern University. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Wilmette for 30 years, and by the Wilmette Bank for 10 years prior to his retirement in 1975. Mr. Ryerson served in the Army Air corps in World War II, in the China-Burma-India theater. He is survived by his wife, Viola Abel Ryerson; a daughter, Claire Flintz of Wilmette; a son, John T. Jr. of Gambier, Ohio; and grandsons Richard Flintz Jr., Scott Flintz and William and Jack Ryerson. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Parkinson Foundation, 360 W. Superior, Chicago; or First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette.`
