- Whole family made homeless by flood along Mississippi River are being cared for by Evanstonians. The family is that of John F. Long, who lived on a farm eighteen miles from Vicksburg. With him is his wife and two children, Edward age 5 and Catharine age 3. Two other children drowned. They secured transportation to Evanston believing, incorrectly, they would find relatives here. Mrs. Paul Jenrick, 909 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, took the family in. Mr. Nelson of Chapin a& Nelson livery sent a carriage to Fire Station No. 1 where the family had taken shelter, to transport them to the Jenrick's home. The father has secured employment as an expressman. Fireman Keppler is caring for the little girl at his home. The boy is at the home of Mrs. Jenrick. Any person desiring to assist the family should notify Mrs. Jenrick.
