Full Text

For the first time in the history of the township a woman now sits on the board of directors of New Trier high school as the result of the unanimous election held last Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Ruth W. Porter is the new member and with her on the same ticket Rev. Edward J. Vattmann was re-elected to office, one hundred and sixty-two votes being polled for them throughout the entire township, a procedure which is continued from year to year under the old law.
Polling booths were opened in Glencoe, Hubard Woods, Winnetka, Wilmette and Gross Point. Mrs. Porter succeeds to the place formerly occupied by William D. McKenzie of Winnetka on the board which is comprised of five members. It was announced at the school following the election that some slight changes were planned for the coming year.
These include the inauguration of a four-year physical training course instead of the present course of two years, and two new tennis courts are to be added to the campus. Arrangements are now being made with the contractors for this work.
