Missner, Arthur O. (Died)

Arthur O. Missner, formerly of Wilmete, died suddenly Saturday morning at his home at 509 Hunter Road, Glenview. He was graduated from Armour Institute of Technology in the department of civil engineering and was an engineer with the Illinois State Highway for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the two world wars in the United States Navy, having served in the submarine service in World War I for five years and as lieutenant commander in the SeaBees in the South Pacific in World War II. Upon his return to the United States he served as public works officer at the Glenview Naval Air Station for two years. A former resident at 1711 Elmwood avenue and at 320 Isabella Streeet in Wilmette, Mr. Missner had lived in Glenview for 10 years and was an active member of the Glenview Community Church. The Rev. Robert A. Edgar of the Glenview Community Church officiated at memorial services for Mr. Missner Sunday afternoon at the church. Mr. Missner is survived by his wife, Selma B.; and a daughter, Claire, a senior at New Trier High School. He is also survived by four sisters and three brothers, Frank Missner of Terra Bella, California; Mrs. James Paden, Mrs. David Storely and John Missner of Beloit, Wisconsin; William Missner of Chicago; and Mrs. James Passero of Detroit, Mich.; and Mrs. Frank Howell of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Two brothers preceded him in death: Robert of Detroit and Max who died in World War I.
