Crosby, Edwin L. (Died)

A memorial service was held Feb. 25 at the American Hospital Association, Chicago, for Dr. Edwin L. Crosby, executive president. Dr. Crosby, 63, died Feb. 20 in Evanston Hospital. He became executive president in 1970 after serving from 1964 as director and executive vice president of the hospital association. Dr. Crosby was director of John Hopkins Hospital from 1937 to 1962, when he became director of the newly formed Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. He also served on the faculty of John Hopkins University from 1940 to 1962. Dr. Crosby was past president of the International Hospital Federation, the National Health Council, the advisory board for Medical Specialties, and the National Intern and Resident Matching Programs, and a member of the National Advisory Council for Regional Medical Programs. He was an emeritus member of the board of the trustees of Albany (N.Y.) Medical College. He is survived by his widow, Harriett, and three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Beattie of Deerfield, Mrs. Sue Doyle of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Ann Nicolson of Northfield, Minn.
