THE LAKE SHORE NEWS, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1920 INDOOR TEAMS STAGE TRIPLE-HEADER HERE Triple Play Also Features Unusual Baseball Event Between "Giants" and "All Stars" A triple-header indoor-baseball argument was staged at Gross Point Sunday afternoon when the Mizz Inn Giants tackled the Gross Point All Stars. Jack Huerter, manager of the Giants, proved to spectators and players alike that he was an "Iron Man" hurling the trio of contests for his outfit. He was victorious in the first two but finished on the small end of the last argument. In the initial game Huerter held the All Stars to a quartet of swats and won easily 7 to 1 not being scored on until the final < session. Schmitz opposed him on the mound. Loses Close Game The second game witnessed "Jake" Hoffman on the hill for the All Stars and he held the Giants to four runs but his team mates were in- effective with the bludgeon failing to score a run. The last game was the, most in- teresting of the afternoon's pastime. The losers of the first two games be- gan to score in the opening frame and had five runs to their credit by the end of the second period. The Giants rallied in this pinch and tied the score but the blood of the "goats" was up and they retaliated with a brace of runs in the fifth. Three more tallies were added to the All Stars' total before the game ended while the Giants added an- other harmless run in the final stanza. Enact Triple Play A feature of the last game occurred in the fifth inning. With men on sec- ond and first and no one out a Giant batter lined to Schaefgen at third base on a hit and run play. Schaefgen tagged the runner coming to third and fired the pill to first and com- pleted the triple play. Meyer, the Giant's left fielder, was the star of the matinee. He fielded more than 24 chances in his terri- tory without an error and batted around the .600 mark for the day.
