May, Just Returned from P« cine Coast, Read Paper "From Cover to Cover" "The Lake Shore News followed me to Seattle and I looked forward from week to week for the home town news. I'd never be without the paper on a future trip. I read it from cover to cover. Why, I got the news in the paper before I could get it by letter." Those are the kind words of J. W. May, Wilmette Carpenter con- tractor, who lives at 436 Tenth street, and who returned late last week from the Pacific coast. Mr. and Mrs. May left Wilmette last September on an automobile trip to Seattle. They remained in the coast city through the winter. Mrs. May will return to the Village on May 1. While on the west coast May made a trip to Van Couver, B. C, where, he declares, living conditions are much better than in the United States. Most commodities were cheaper he found, including food in the restaurants and hotels. "I got a $1.25 meal for 45 cents over there," he said. "Other com- modities, with the exception of to- bacco, were uniformly cheaper than in the States." HOME SHORTAGE J. L. Kiley, formerly of 314 Green- leaf avenue, who has just moved to Mansfield, Ohio, reports- houses are more scarce in the Ohio town than in Wilmette. He had to buy a home to find shelter for his family.
