THE LAKE SHORE NEWS, FRIDAY, MARCH 19, 1920 Wilmette and Gross m^mPoint Teams Unite s Two Baseball Squads Consolidate To Form Championship Squadâ€"Line- :;f|pc3p up Shows Number of Star . .â- Mllils^Vr â-  •" â- '.-â-  Athletes â-  ^iWilmette's prospects in the 1920 baseball season took a decided jump this week in the consolidation of the Gross Point and Wilmette Athletic association. The union tokk place Monday night at the Central school where a meeting of both organiza- tions was called to discuss the pos- sibilities of sending out a champion- ship squad from the village. _ The combining of the two teams is ex- pected to furnish the desired results as both teams possess individual stars, who, when moulded into a single team, will display unusual ability. The new diamond aggrega- tion will be known simply as the "Wilmette Baseball Team." Much enthusiasm was manifested at the meeting over the consolidation of the two rival clubs. The feasibility of uniting the two teams has long been discussed and pointed out _ as the easiest and surest way of having a powerful aggregation represent Wilmette. As a result th action of Monday 4 night is arousing much comment. John Goldbach, ex-professional player is the manager of the team and W. D. Reynolds was elected to captain it. Arrangements for the use of the Gross Point diamond, located at Lake and Ridge avenue, have al- ready been made. Fifteen new white uniforms, including dark green stock- ings and caps, have been ordered The uniforms will be pure white with black pin stripes. Another meeting of the new organ- ization will be held Sunday morning at the Central school oa 10 o'clock, where it is expected plans will be made for the arrangement of a schedule. They will also complete plans for the Easter Monday dance to he held at the village hall ia Gross Point. A glimpse at the athletes who will represent Wilmette this years shows that a number of stars have been se- cured by the consolidation. An ex- ceptionally strong pitching staff is assured in J. Borre. H. Boesch and W. Raap. The other departments are equally strong. The list of other players follows: Catchersâ€"S. Ros- berg and Robinson; infieldâ€"E. Braun, J. Golbach, W. Reynolds. B. j Frawley and C. De Long; outfieldâ€" G. Schaefer, J. Schwall, E. Estis, W. Barrow, H. Zeutschel and A. Eber. i The members of the team are plan- ning to interest the support of local merchants in the welfare of the team. Committees will be chosen to call upon them all personally. \^^MMMW^ P. A.
