Elaborate preparations for a Leap Year party and dance to be given by the members of the Town club, are now under wa5r. The affair is to take place tomorrow evening at the Wilmette Woman's club. , The Wilmette Catholic Woman's club will hold its regular monthly meeting this afternoon at the Woman's club. The speakers will be Mrs. D. R. McCauley, who will have as her subject, "Amer- icanization of Music and American Composers," and Mrs. Edward Fleming, who will talk on "Rosary College." Another enjoyable meeting- of the Woman's club was held on Wednes- day afternoon. Professor Franklin Bliss Snyder of Northwestern Uni- versity who has made a deep study of Abraham Lincoln, gave a most in- teresting lecture on "Lincoln, the Prophet of Nations," pointing out in various ways the beautiful character of Lincoln. Mrs. J., A. Delafontaine, soprano, accompanied by Miss Eloise Bedlan, Wilmette's own artist, rend- ered two delightful groups of songs. On Wednesday, March 3, Professor Snyder will give his lecture on "Mark Twain, the Yankee Preacher and Humorist", at the clubhouse before the members of the club and their friends. This meeting will be under the auspices of the Art and Literature department, and it is hoped that there will be a large attendance. Mrs. J. V. Seaver and Mrs. Royce Hulbetr will sing, accompanied by Miss Eloise Bedlan. Mrs. A. Starr Best, who was unable to be present at the meeting yesterday, will speak for a few moments on the Draxva Movement, preceding Porfessor Snyder's lecture. â€"+â€" Miss Beatrice Pease, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Pease of Kenilworth, was one of three young women who passed with flying col- ors, the tests in swimming and life saving work at Northwestern uni- versity a few days ago. Thirty-one students have been made members of the American Red Cross life sav- ing corps of women, many of whom are planning to replace the men life- guards at the beaches next summer. "We are waiting for the Red Cross emblems from the headquarters," said Coach Tom Robinson. "They are red designs with the insignia of the life saving corps on them and will be worn on the bathing suits by the girls when they go swimming next summer. The presence of a Red Cross life saver will give con- fidence to bathers and the Red Cross girls will have charge of a situation whenever there is danger." _♦_ Donations are still needed at Economy Shop, in fact, the shop is entirely sold out at the end of each week, so that a new supply must be obtained each time. In making the report of the Economy Shop, a short time ago, the total sales of the Shop taken in since its opening on De- cember 2, 1918, up to February 1, 1920, a period of fourteen months, amounting to $5,983 was omitted. Besides making the payments on Community House, of $2,810, the Economy Shop has been able to maintain the store.
