The Defense Department has reported the death in an airplane crash of Army Capt. Benjamin R. Bostick IV of Lexington, Ky., whose widow Geri resides in Wilmette. The Defense Department said Capt. Bostick was killed Saturday when the aircraft in which he was passenger crashed into the South China Sea east of Da Nang. Bostick was 27. He had been in Vietnam for less than a month and served as an aviation maintenance officer at Da Nang. He was a 1968 distinguished military graduate at the University of Kentucky where he received a master's degree in special education for the mentally retarded. He was president of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau, while an undergraduate at the University of Kentucky. His widow resides at 624 Eleventh St. in Wilmette with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barr. Other survivors include Capt. Bostick's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin R. Bostick III of Lexington, and a sister, Miss Lynn Bostick of Phoenix, Ariz. Services are to be held today in Lexington, and the family has requested that all memorials be sent to the Nature Conservancy, 708 Church St., Evanston.
