Lida J. Houy

Mrs. Lida J. Houy, 103, formerly of Wilmette, died last week in her home in Evanston. The widow of Philip H. Houy, she was a member of the Wilmette Congregational Church.

Mrs. Houy was born at [illegible] Pa. After her marriage in 1886, she lived at Galena, Ill, for four years then moved to the Chicago area. She and her daughter, Mrs. Guy C. Leekley, moved to Evanston nine [unclear] years ago after living in Wilmette for 20 years.

Mrs. Houy was honored with a tea on her 100th birthday. At the time she received 104 birthday cards including one from former [continued p.109] President Eisenhower.

Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Donald C. Farley, JR. of the Wilmette Church. William H. Scott Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
