Friday is an early release day, and there will be no school Monday.

•Open gym, sponsored by the PTA, is coming to Romona from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday. Admission is free. A parent must accompany each child. Families can use this time during the cold days of winter to get some good exercise and have some fun as a family. Several types of physical education equipment will be available for free. Questions may be directed to Bill Schaaf

•A PTA meeting is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.

•School directories were distributed to all current PTA members.

•The school congratulates students who entered this year's directory art contest on a job well done. Works of all the young artists are on display in the lobby.

Officials said the fine-arts panel of judges had to make some very difficult decisions to select one from each grade. Winners by grade are as follows: Eva Kirie -- fourth; Julia Jezykowski -- third; Richard Jo -- second; Jenna Khalifeh -- first.
