Sugar trader J. Q. Syme, of 553 Willow St., Winnetka and William Bross Lloyd were both arrested for speeding in Evanston. When Syme was booked, Sergeant Pestka contacted Police Magistrate John F. Boyer. Syme had told Motorcycle Policeman Larkin and Pestka that he needed to get to Chicago in a specified time so that the price of sugar wouldn't increase. Policeman Larkin arrested Lloyd for speeding. In his case, Justice of the Peace, Schatz gave a continuence since Lloyd was rushing his wife to the hospital; this was not granted and Lloyd like Symes payed at $10- fine.
