Mr. F. H. Drury

Willimette, Illinois

Dear Sir:

I wish to remind you of our conversation, last Snday, regarding raising grades of front of library and trust that you will use your influence in getting the committee to adopt my suggestion as it will improve the appearance of the building in a very marked degree, in fact I consider it necessary to preserve the proportion of the entire design. What I propose to hve done is to raise grade at front of main building to a height of a course of stone above still and let the ground slope down to front so that no change will be necessary at bottom of steps. Then have a quick face from front comes on side to bottom of sill of first side window. Storm slabs can be set on the sills of front windows to keep the earth out and would not take off any light and the cost would be insignificant. Accompanying sketch will make my meaning perfectly clear.

Yours truly

L. W. Claude
