Sweeney, Frances Evans The life of Frances Evans Sweeney is one to be celebrated! Her love of life was expressed in her delight and pride for her family: late husband (John), sister (Mary Jane Welch) and brother (William), daughter Mary Jane Hoff (Doug Japhet, Linden, Ethan), David (Jeanine Olivia, Jack), and Alice Seay (Andrew Nora, Janey). Frances had a life-long passion for Women's athletics. After graduating from Northwestern University, she taught at Glenbrook North High School, while earning her Masters from Michigan State, and becoming a Professor of Physical Education at University of IL, Chicago. She was a decorated competitor in synchronized swimming, a coach and founder of the North Suburban YMCA's synchronized swimming team and president of the IAAA. She was an active member of the Christian Science Church in Glenview. A memorial service will be held on Sept. 3, 1:00pm at First Church of Christ Scientist, Glenview.
