Two local players advanced to the final 16 at the Chick Evans Junior Amateur Championship last week at Itasca Country Club.
Winnetka’s Nicholas McCall, the fourth seed after stroke play, lost to Palatine’s Danny Masrin 4-and-3. Northbrook’s Nick Jan, the No. 12 seed, went two extra holes before falling to St. Charles’ Elio Vento.
Belvidere’s Robert Dofflemyer won the championship with a 5-and-4 win over Masrin.
McCall shot 75-70 to earn a trip to match play, while Jan registered matching 74s to qualify for the next round. Lake Forest’s Joe Willis was the medalist after rounds of 70-69 for a 3-under 139.
Northbrook’s Brian Ohr, a teammate of Jan’s at Glenbrook North, narrowly missed out on match play after shooting 81-68. Evanston’s Jackson Mihevic (76-74) and Winnetka’s Thomas Errath (76-74) also missed the cut in the 152-player field.
