Coal Firms In Combine
Lake Shore News (Wilmette, Illinois), 23 Jan 1913, p. 9

Media Type:
There have been rumors that the Peabody Coal Co, W. E. Barber Coal Co., and the Lincoln Fuel Co. have been taken over by the City Fuel Co. of Chicago. Lake Shore News has been unable to find confirmation of this. LSN did find that the names of the businesses are now: Peabody Coal Co., agent; W. E. Barber Co., agent, and Lincoln Fuel Co., agent. LSN reports unconfirmed rumors that: W. E. Barber, who heads the company with that name, will be in charge of the re-organized firm. Frank W. Coffeeen, now manager of the Peabody Coal Co., will be in charge of the feed department of that business. Possible changes will affect the North Shore. There are additional rumors that the coal end of the new company will be handled from the the present Peabody Coal Company's yards on Chicago Ave., north of Greenleaf St. and the feed business will be carried on from the yards on Noyes St., between Sherman Ave. and Maple Ave., all in Evanston. The offices will be in the new building at 1015 Church St.
