Ian Kidner Williams, of Wilmette, died May 3, 2011, in the loving presence of family, after a three-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Ian was born May 1, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio. Recently retired from IT Management Systems at Northwestern University, Ian previously worked for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. He gained his expertise with computers during his service as a Navy reservist. Ian was an avid reader, a regular volunteer at Wilmette Public Library, and enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his father, David Williams, and his wife, Rebecca Williams. A beloved father and grandfather, Ian is survived by children Sean Williams and Holly (Nathaniel) Olsen, and grandchildren, William and Rebecca Olsen, as well as his mother, Kathleen Williams, sister Pamela Roddy-Morrow, and brother Michael Williams. A memorial will be held from 5-7 p.m. June 28 at the Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Ave., Wilmette, IL.
