Annamarie Baskin, a private music teacher who instructed New Trier students for 30 years, will receive a Distinguished Service Award at the Choir Opera Revue at 7:30 p.m. today in the Gaffney Auditorium on the Winnetka Campus.
Baskin graduated from Wheaton College with a bachelor’s degree in music. She did her master’s work in vocal performance and vocal pedagogy, with a concentration in adolescent voice development, at the American Conservatory in Chicago, and her post-graduate study at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden.
As a singer, Baskin has performed in recitals, opera, oratorio and solo sacred works in the Netherlands, Germany, Scandinavia, England and in the United States. Baskin has taught college and high school students since 1970. She began at New Trier in 1980 and retired in December of 2010.
Senior Project exhibition
Members of the public are invited to attend the exhibition for New Trier’s 2011 Senior Project from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today in gyms G108-109 on the Winnetka Campus. New Trier’s Senior Project is an experiential learning program completed during the final five weeks of senior year. This is a wonderful time for underclassmen, as well as parents, to learn more about Senior Project.
