Prominent Evanston businessmen inteviewed by LSN concur that 1913 will be the most prosperous year ever. The only thing of concern is the upcoming readjustment of the tariff by the federal government. J. F. Ward, presidnet of the City National Bank and F. J. Scheidenhelm, Vice President and Cashier of the State Bank spoke optimistically. James R. Smart of the construction firm Mason & Smart spoke optimistically and H. M. Rosenberg, merchant was positive about 1913. A. L. Boggart of Lord's, Thomas E. Connors, local hardware dealer and H. E. Chandler are optimistic. Express companies don't anticipate decreases in business; LSN spoke with W. W. Winter of United States Express Company and A. F. Bull, local agent for the American Express Company.
