In March St. Joseph School and Church not only won the Paper Retriever's Earth Day Challenge (by collecting more paper than it did a year ago) but it also brought in a record 6.56 tons. The school earned nearly $100 in March, not counting other incentives. This far surpasses the original goal of collecting five tons of paper a month. The school's Paper Retriever account now ranks 87 out of all 1,433 Paper Retriever accounts in the Chicago Area and Northwest Indiana, and 110 out of 1,460 Paper Retrievers in the State of Illinois. The more money the school earns through the Paper Retriever, the more eligible St. Joe's is for other grants.
The St. Joseph Jubilee Jog is a 5K Run/Walk that promises fun for all ages. Money raised supports all SJS programs. The event takes place at 8 a.m. May 30 and will include a certified course and D'Tag Timing System. Online Registration is available ta www.signmeup.com/75548. Registration forms are available at St Joseph Rectory, The Runner's Edge, and the Wilmette Bike Shop.
A portion of the proceeds from the Jubilee Jog will be donated to the Peg Foley Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has been established to help families in need offset tuition costs at St. Joseph School. Individual donations to the fund will also be gratefully accepted.
