On Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13, between the hours of 4 and 7:30, burglars entered the home of Mr. Henry Schlacks on Linden avenue and took a very valuable sealskin coat, besides several hundred dollars worth of jewelry and silver. The burglars entered by prying open a window on the front porch and then closing all the window shades, portieres, etc. The whole house was ransacked.
The home of Alfred Bersbach and David F. Anderson, 530 Washington avenue, was also burglarized at about the same time, for on the return of the family at 7:10 o'clock, the whole house had been ransacked and several hundred dollars worth of silver and jewelry had been stolen. That the burglars were frightened away was evidenced by the fact that they left some articles which were valuable and would naturally have been taken.
